This 14-year-old Laphroaig, distilled in 1973 and bottled in 1987 by Avery’s of Bristol, presents a unique story. Bottled from a single cask by John Avery, the outturn was divided between the Avery’s of Bristol wine shop and a close friend. We acquired this stock from the latter. Upon opening a bottle at The Whisky Show Old & Rare 2019, we were greeted by aromas and flavors reminiscent of fresh hay, dusty books, almond tart, chestnut, honey, sweet pipe tobacco, and coffee.
